The royal sisters have kept their children’s lives very private despite their public status

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are giving themselves freedom by being working parents with jobs away from the monarchy, a royal author has claimed.

Beatrice shares daughters Sienna and Athena with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, while Eugenie has two sons, August and Ernest, with Jack Brooksbank.

Beatrice is also stepmother to Edoardo’s nine-year-old, Christopher Woolf, from his previous relationship with American architect Dara Huang.

Royal author Robert Jobson revealed: “The Princess has shown how a so-called blended family works.

“She wed Edoardo in July 2020, when his son Wolfie was around four, and she was genuine too when she described being his stepmum as 'a great honour.’

“His mother, Dara, has confirmed the arrangement worked, saying the two sets of parents were both helping to raise him with no drama. Just good parenting.”

Both sisters have been protective of their children’s privacy, with the few images of their children being shown on social media, and when they are posted, they largely exclude the children’s faces.

The royals also keep their children out of their public life, having spoken about them publicly but never involving them in their events.

Beatrice recently opened up on the birth of her daughter Athena’s premature birth, with Thursday marking her first birthday.

In an essay for British Vogue, Beatrice said her baby was “so tiny it took more than a few weeks for the tears of relief to dry.”

Mr Jobson continues: “The royal sisters have both avoided complications for their children by avoiding royal and aristocratic titles.

“Their children are simply August and Ernest Brooksbank and Sienna and Athena Mapelli Mozzi. It means less scrutiny and means they can avoid the burden of being truly public figures.”

The princesses each carry out charitable endeavours, but they do not carry out royal duties, with Eugenie working at an art gallery, Hauser & Wirth, while Beatrice works for tech company Afiniti.

Mr Jobson describes the royal sisters as “working mums with proper jobs” and “hands-on.”

He continued: “The York princesses grew up close enough to see how the royal system works, very close to the late Queen and Prince Philip.

“But they were distant enough to see the difficulty it brings. They are raising their children their way - and in doing so giving them freedom.” he concluded to Hello.

Ms Huang spoke on coparenting in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in 2024. He said: “Wolfie has had two sets of parents trying to help him on both sides, and I just think, 'The more, the merrier.'

“I feel lucky to have such positive people around him, who really embrace him – because it didn't have to be so easy.”
