The Princess of York and the founder of Monzo both put their personal money into the business

Princess Beatrice has been named as a surprise angel investor in an upcoming streaming service.

The Princess of York, 35, has invested in Sooper Books, described as "a book streaming service that offers a wide variety of original, world-class stories and audiobooks on any internet-connected devices".

Its founders, Simon and Charlene Mitchell-Hood, appeared on Dragon's Den where they disclosed that Beatrice was one of their angel investors.

Tom Bloomfield, the founder of Monzo, was another angel investor, according to the couple.

An angel investor is someone who puts their personal money into a business.

Upon hearing that Princess Beatrice had invested in Sooper Books, Dragon Peter Jones responded: "You've got royalty as an investor! Amazing, congratulations."

The princess is a keen advocate for reading books, as she was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of seven.

Beatrice previously said: “It’s no secret that I struggled with my dyslexia as a child and often even wished it away.

“But now I see it as a tremendous gift and I want every dyslexic child to know that they too can tap into their dyslexic strengths.”

In 2021, Prince Andrew's eldest daughter narrated a children’s book aiming to empower dyslexic children.

The book, Xtraordinary People, was written by Kate Griggs, the founder of the global charity Made By Dyslexia.

Princess Beatrice is a proud ambassador of the charity, frequently appearing at events as a speaker.

Beatrice is not a working member of the Royal Family, despite King Charles's intentions to "slim down" the monarchy.

However, she frequently champions charities and initiatives that are close to her heart in public.

The mother-of-one also has a job working as Vice President of Partnerships and Strategy for software company Afiniti.

In 2020, Beatrice tied the knot with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and they share a daughter named Sienna. Edoardo also has a seven-year-old son named Wolfie from a previous relationship.
