Prince William launches 'Earthshot City' in Brazil ahead of award ceremony

Prince William has launched “Earthshot City” in Rio de Janeiro as the capital of Brazil is set to host the Prince of Wales’s environment awards.
The Earthshot Prize launched the Earthshot Boulevard in the centre of Rio on Monday, marking the first of many events leading up to the ceremony on November 5.
The boulevard has been launched in collaboration with the climate charity Eleven Eleven Foundation and will feature art installations and messages of climate action.
It is the first time the environmental award, which is in its fifth year, has revealed a space for the public to participate in the event.

The space will run from the Museum of Tomorrow to Pier 3, which is the site of the Earthshot Summit.
The installation, named Cool Globes, features large globe-shaped sculptures by different artists who have designed ways to bring climate solutions to life.
The public art exhibit has already been displayed in 24 cities around the world and was developed by the founder of Eleven Eleven Foundation, Wendy Abrams.
Visitors to the boulevard will be able to buy Earthshot Coffee, which is made from sustainable Macaw coffee beans and served with sustainable oat milk in a seaweed coated recyclable cups.
The “City” will launch in Rio on November 2, with an immersive environment that will feature art and performances, as well as branded airport signage and flags marking key routes.
In celebration of The Earthshot Prize coming to Latin America for the first time, more than 600 drones will take to the skies above Ipanema Beach in a light show on November 4.
The Prince of Wales, who founded the prize in 2020, will travel to Rio to attend the awards and stay on to join world leaders at Cop30 in Belem in the Amazon.

There will be performances at the awards in Brazil, where Kylie Minogue, Shawn Mendes, and former minister for culture Gilberto Gil will all be on stage.
