The Princess of Wales was spotted for the first time in Windsor last weekend

Prince William opened up about Princess Kate's absence during his outing in Sheffield today.

The Prince of Wales, 41, attended a Homewards Sheffield Local Coalition meeting at the Millennium Gallery to discuss ways to end homelessness.


The Sheffield City Council chief executive, Kate Josephs, brought up the topic of childhood with Prince William.

The royal immediately spoke about the success of Kate's early years projects.

Holding his palms out and smiling, Prince William said: "That's my wife's area, she needs to be sat here."

This comes as the Prince and Princess of Wales were spotted in Windsor over the weekend during a visit to a farm shop.

A witness at the farm shop said: "After all the rumours that had been going around I was stunned to see them there.

"Kate was out shopping with William and she looked happy and she looked well.

"The kids weren’t with them but it’s such a good sign she was healthy enough to pop down to the shops."

Princess Kate has not undertaken royal duties since December last year, having undergone planned abdominal surgery.

The Princess of Wales has been recuperating at Adelaide Cottage with her husband and their three children.

Kensington Palace indicated that Princess Kate would not return to public duties until Easter.

The Princess of Wales looks to be on track to make her first public appearance across the Easter weekend or just after the holiday.

According to reports Kate has not ruled out making a return on Easter Sunday during the Royal Family's traditional walk to church.

However, Kate is not expected to return to public duties until the week beginning April 15.

Prince William stepped out in Sheffield today to unveil major commitments, secured through The Royal Foundation’s Homewards programme, to prevent homelessness as part of his project.

Sheffield was announced as one of the six flagship Homewards locations in June 2023.

The Prince of Wales is committed to ending the issue of homelessness.

His late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, would regularly bring William and his younger brother Prince Harry to homeless shelters during their childhood.
