Prince William expected backlash for his comments on the Israel-Hamas war, according to royal commentator Pandora Forsyth.
The Prince of Wales called for an “end to the fighting as soon as possible” in a strongly worded intervention.
He spoke of the “terrible human cost of the conflict in the Middle East since the Hamas terrorist attack”.
He said there is a “desperate need for increased humanitarian support to Gaza”.

Speaking on GBN America, Forsyth defended the Prince and said his comments show his “emotional side”.
“I think it shows a completely knew side of monarchy”, she said.
“The King has been quite emotive as well recently, so they’re obviously going down that human side of the monarchy now to try and be more relatable and more in touch with these sorts of issues.
“Of course these issues, if they come into politics, you’re going to land yourselves into a bit of hot water.”
GBN America host Mark Dolan waded in to comment that William’s statement could be seen as “divisive”.

Asked whether she wants to see William become a divisive figure, Forsyth said “of course not”.
She added: “I know for a fact that the household won’t want that either.
“Neither of the households or the Royal Family will want him become a divisive figure because from a polling perspective and a popularity perspective, he’s done extremely well.
“I’m sure this would have affected the polls in some sort of way and we’ll find out in the next couple of weeks how that has affected him in terms of popularity.
“He has made some good points but he has to bear in mind his position in society.
“The statement will have gone over many times by his aides and I’ve got no doubt it would have been shown to the King as well.
“The King wouldn’t have been able to get away with releasing a statement like that, and I’m only speculating here, but maybe that’s why the Prince of Wales did that instead.”
