GB News understands that Prince George is not in attendance

Prince William is supporting England in Switzerland as the Lionesses battle for their tournament life.

The Prince of Wales, as Patron of The Football Association, has travelled to Zurich today for the second Uefa Women’s Euro 2025 group stage match for the England team.

The Lionesses will take on the Netherlands tonight, just four days after losing to France 2-1.

Last month, William met the team at St George’s Park training ground, where he presented them with their official squad shirts and wished them luck before they left for the tournament.

The match began at 5pm BST, with the future King appearing in the stands to support his country's team.

GB News understands that Prince George, who is also an avid football fan, did not make the trip to Zurich with his father.

The Lionesses will be battling for their tournament life this afternoon after losing against France.

If the team suffers back-to-back defeats against the Dutch, the Lionesses will be out of the Uefa European Women's Championship.

The game will see Lioness player Beth Mead, a forward, play against her girlfriend on the Dutch team, Vivianne Miedema.

Miedema has insisted she will "not hold back" in her tackles against long-term partner Mead as the pair prepare to go head-to-head in a bid for glory in Group D.

The couple have been in a relationship for three years, having met while playing together at Arsenal.

Prince William's presence at today's game comes two years after the future King was forced to apologise to the Lionesses for not attending the World Cup final against Spain in Australia.

Prince William previously had to apologise after not attending the Women's World Cup final in 2023.

In a video released prior to the match, the Prince wished the players luck for their clash with Spain in Sydney, adding that he was sorry he could not attend.

He sat alongside Princess Charlotte, who also wished the Lionesses luck while holding a football.

Prince William said: “Lionesses, we want to send you a huge good luck for tomorrow.

“We’re sorry we can’t be there in person, but we’re so proud of everything you’ve achieved and the millions you’ve inspired here and around the world.

“So go out there tomorrow and really enjoy yourselves.” Princess Charlotte concluded: “Good luck Lionesses.”
