The Prince of Wales founded The Earthshot Prize in 2020

Brazilian supermodel and environmental campaigner Gisele Bündchen has become the inaugural Brazilian representative on The Earthshot Prize Council.

The appointment comes as the environmental awards prepare for their first Latin American ceremony in Rio de Janeiro on November 5, 2025.

The former Victoria's Secret Angel joins an illustrious roster of council members that includes Prince William, Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, actress Cate Blanchett, and broadcaster Sir David Attenborough.

She will participate in selecting this year's five prize winners during a judging session chaired by Dame Christiana Figueres, the architect of the Paris Climate Agreement.

Prince William established the initiative in 2020, initially developing it within The Royal Foundation before it became an independent organisation.

This year's ceremony at Rio's Museum of Tomorrow represents a significant moment for the awards as it ventures into Latin America for the first time.

Bündchen said on her appointment: “I’m honored to join The Earthshot Prize Council. Protecting nature has always been close to my heart, and I’ve seen the power of the global communities coming together and supporting innovation to create real change.

“Every action matters big or small and together we can nurture change to protect the planet we call home.

“The Earthshot Prize shines a light on solutions that inspire hope and transformation, and I’m proud to represent Brazil in sharing these stories with the world.”
