Prince Sverre Magnus of Norway is set to undertake his first solo royal engagement next week.

The 19-year-old prince will attend a reception at the government's representative residence for Norway's Special Olympics team competing at the World Games in Turin 2025.

This marks a significant milestone for the young royal, who is the son of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit.

While Prince Sverre Magnus is not expected to carry out full-time royal duties, he has been increasingly involved with royal activities in recent months, showing a gradual introduction to public life.

Prince Sverre Magnus joined his parents and older sister, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 22, during Norway's national day celebrations last Saturday, with the royal family dressed in traditional attire.

The prince has also been spotted at sporting events, accompanying his mother Crown Princess Mette-Marit to watch Bodø/Glimt host Tottenham in the Europa League semi-finals earlier this month.

In January, he cheered on Norway's national squad with his mother at the 29th Men's World Handball Championship in Oslo.

The young royal moved back to the family's residence in Oslo in December after spending four months in Trondheim, with the Crown Princess confirming he has started working.

Prince Sverre Magnus currently stands third in line to Norway's throne, behind his sister and father.

Born on December, 3 2005, his education began at kindergarten in Asker before he attended Jansløkka elementary school and Oslo Montessori school.

The prince graduated from Elvebakken Upper Secondary School in Oslo last summer. According to the Norwegian royal family's official website, his hobbies include skiing and water sports.

Despite his royal status, the Crown Princess has indicated he is now working, though the family has chosen not to disclose details about his employment, with Mette-Marit noting only that "he is very happy about it."

The latest news comes after former US President Barack Obama met with King Harald V of Norway.

Obama's meeting with the Norwegian monarch came during his brief visit to the Scandinavian country when he delivered a lecture at Oslo Spektrum.

Obama's lecture at Oslo Spektrum on Monday was moderated by Sofie Høgestøl, a podcaster and former member of the Norwegian parliament.

The discussion explored "some of the most pressing issues of our time, as well as his thoughts on the challenges facing the world's democracies in the future."

The connection between Obama and King Harald dates back to 2009, when the monarch presented Obama with the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in international diplomacy.

Their reunion comes just over a year after the Norwegian monarch reduced his royal duties following a lengthy sick leave and an operation to install a permanent pacemaker.
