The Duke of Sussex made an unexpected appearance at the NEXUS Global Summit

Prince Harry has appeared to make a dig at the Royal Family during his surprise New York appearance on Friday.

The father-of-two made an unexpected appearance at the NEXUS Global Summit in NYC on June 27, addressing an audience of next-generation philanthropists and impact investors.

During his remarks, Prince Harry reflected on his personal journey from being born into a life of service to discovering his own purpose.

Making a sly dig at the Royal Family, Harry spoke about transitioning from having to serve to wanting to serve, as reported by People Magazine, marking a significant shift in his approach to public duty.

Prince Harry urged attendees to "take care of each other and our children in the future" and to "tackle the systems instead of the symptoms keeping us down."

He encouraged the philanthropists to consider their desired legacies and align their investments with that vision. The Duke called on them to use their platforms to foster meaningful collaboration and change.

Harry emphasised that the Archewell Foundation, which he established with his wife, Meghan Markle, in 2020, operates on principles of "compassionate leadership" and dedication to "something greater than ourselves".

The Foundation was launched after the couple stepped back from their royal roles, with a mission to "Show Up, Do Good".

The Duke of Sussex, 40, participated in a fireside chat titled "Building Tomorrow: A Conversation on Service, Impact & Collective Action with Prince Harry" alongside Rachel Gerrol, co-founder and CEO of NEXUS.

The three-day summit, running from June 26 to 28, has brought together 350 leading philanthropists, impact investors and social innovators under the theme "Brave Voices and Bold Ideas". The event focuses on finding solutions to pressing generational challenges.

The summit's key topics, including mental health, digital responsibility and conservation, closely align with Prince Harry's established philanthropic priorities.

Other notable speakers at the event included Christy Turlington and Emma Bloomberg.

The Duke's visit to New York marked his latest trip from his California home, where he resides with Meghan and their children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.

His previous New York appearance was on April 23, when he supported Meghan at the TIME100 Summit.

During that event, the Duchess discussed her commercial ventures and made a personal revelation, stating she was "the happiest I've ever been".

She expressed gratitude for having "a partner and a husband who is so supportive and have healthy kids who are so joyful", adding that she "never would have imagined at this point I would feel so happy and grateful".
