Prince Harry pulled out of hosting a major US TV programme in a last-minute U-turn

The Duke of Sussex was lined up to host an episode of Saturday Night Live as part of his promotional tour for his autobiography Spare according to a TV source.


Harry undertook numerous interviews in the US and one in the UK with ITV ahead of the release of his memoir

A source has said that Prince Harry seriously considered appearing on SNL last month.

They told Page Six: "I know that Harry was all in, he was really serious about doing it and it would have been great fun as promo for the book.

"SNL producers have been after Harry for a while.

"Everyone on the show was really into the idea, and people would definitely have tuned in."

Another industry insider added: "There’s always lots of names in the mix, but Harry was definitely a name being discussed."

On whether Harry could collaborate with SNL in the future, they said: “I could also see Harry coming on as a surprise in a sketch.”

It comes as the Sussexes' career plans for the remainder of 2023 were revealed following an explosive start to the year.

Meghan Markle was noticeably absent from the prince's sit down TV chats in the US and the UK.

According to a source, Meghan and Harry will focus on fictional, scripted content in their next projects.

The source told the Telegraph: "There will be more of a heavy focus on fictional, scripted content.

"It will be rom coms, feel good and light-hearted programmes."
