Prince Harry paid an unreported visit to photographer Misan Harriman's London exhibition earlier this month during his four-day trip to the UK.

The Duke of Sussex toured the Purpose of Light display at Hope 93 in Fitzrovia alongside gallery founder Aki Abiola.

The visit only came to light when Mr Harriman shared photographs of the private meeting on his social media accounts.

Mr Harriman, a Nigerian-born British photographer, has been a long-standing friend of Meghan Markle and has captured some of the couple’s most significant family milestones.

He photographed the Sussexes’ 2021 pregnancy announcement, an image taken remotely on an iPad during lockdown, and Princess Lilibet’s first birthday portrait at Frogmore Cottage in 2022.

The photographer has also been a regular guest at key family events and is considered part of the couple’s close circle of friends.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex first met Mr Harriman through mutual contacts in London’s arts and philanthropy scene before their 2020 move to California.

Since then, he has remained closely involved with their public and private projects, including contributing to their Archewell Foundation initiatives and appearing in their Netflix documentary series.

In that programme, he reflected on the purpose behind his work, saying: "My images of them do all the talking."

The black-and-white pictures from the Fitzrovia visit show Harry studying the exhibition and discussing the artworks with Mr Harriman and Mr Abiola.

Even though the images are monochrome, the Duke’s clothing appears similar to the outfit he wore on September 9 during a midday visit to Nottingham.

Mr Harriman wrote alongside the photographs: "Thank you for visiting my exhibition, Prince Harry.

"It was wonderful to show you my work and discuss the incredible space Aki has created for artists in the gallery. Art is important, especially now."

In the Netflix series, he added: "Portraiture for me, whether it is royalty or whether I'm in the tip of the spear in any of the civil rights movements that I care deeply about, is looking for truth.

"That's fundamentally what my lens is there, to capture the human condition in full fidelity.

"Whether it's beautiful children and the great love and fortitude of this couple, or whether it is when the world decided to refuse to look away from what happened to George Floyd, whether it's climate action, the gay and trans community is hugely important for me — my lens is always at their disposal, always will be."
