The Duke is said to have been "hiding" following the spate of bad news.

The programme looked at the effects of the press on his life and how it had affected his relationship with the Royal Family.

However, Tabloids on Trial was the 35th most-watched programme on ITV that week - bringing in just under 1.1million viewers, according to figures from ThinkBox.

A royal source told New Idea that "the public appetite for his complaints is waning".

The insider added: "He just had the week from hell. From the failure of his latest TV interview cutting through, to some personal family losses, it’s no wonder Harry wanted to hide."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Harry was also hit with the news of another death with his ex Cressida Bonas losing her sister Pandora to cancer during the same week his uncle passed.

The source said both deaths "will have hit Harry hard".

It comes at the same time that he and Meghan Markle are preparing to take a tour of Colombia this month.

The couple have faced backlash over the upcoming tour of the South American nation after claiming they were leaving their royal roles so they could have "privacy" and "space" to raise their children.

Following the announcement, some are concerned that this type of trips does not serve Britain’s interests and will undermine the work of the Royal Family.

One source has said the tour is to prove "how much the Royal Family misses her".

An insider told OK!: "She feels her and Harry together really shine when meeting dignitaries and locals, and it helps with the brand and their plan to be the alternative Royal Family. Meghan knows that nobody in the Royal Family can put on a show like her and Harry.

"When they left, they asked that they could still represent the family on tours but were told no, so she feels it’s the ultimate revenge as they were both so upset when they were rejected."
