The Duke and Duchess of Sussex keep their children strictly out of the public eye

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will likely protect Archie and Lilibet from "bad Archewell press", a royal commentator has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have never brought their young children along to events hosted by the Archewell Foundation since stepping down as working royals.

In comparison, the Prince and Princess of Wales as working royals occasionally bring Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, along to events to introduce them to public life.

Gareth Russell, a royal author, believes this is an intentional choice from the Sussexes, who are "suspicious of violations of privacy".

He exclusively told GB News: "Prince Harry, like his brother, is immensely concerned with privacy, but he's more suspicious of violations of privacy.

"We've certainly seen Prince William get very protective and angry over his children's privacy being violated, but he is also trying to introduce them to royal life.

"Whereas, Prince Harry has repeatedly voiced concerns about the children being in public.

"And so I don't know when we'll see Prince Archie or Princess Lilibet at any kind of public event."

The author, who recently published The Palace: From the Tudors to the Windsors, 500 Years of Royal History at Hampton Court, discussed how the Archewell Foundation has received poor press recently.

According to the foundation's public disclosure of their accounts, Meghan and Harry each worked on average just one hour per week for Archewell this year. Their foundation also suffered a £536,357 loss.

Detailed financial documents show that only two donors donated £795,210 each this year.

This was a significant drop of over £8.7million from last year.

In the year 2021, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex secured a profit of more than £7.1million.

Russell added: "Archewell hasn't had great press recently. And it may be that actually Harry and Meghan want to keep the children away from that for the time being.

"So I don't think there'd be much change in the way that the Sussex children interact with the world in the foreseeable future.

"But who knows Harry and Meghan are often surprising and they may grow to change their mind, the longer they spend in America."
