The Duke and Duchess of Sussex released the message today, recognising a day that was established in 2024 through a bipartisan resolution in the US Senate.
The commemorative day was created to honour young people who have lost their lives due to online harm.
The statement explains that the initiative was put forward by several members of The Parents' Network, specifically the families of Carson Bride, Alexander Neville, and Devin Norring.

The foundation expressed support for The Parents' Network families who continue to advocate for change.
According to the statement, families and activists gathered in Washington, DC today to honour those who have died.
The Duke and Duchess praised The Parents' Network members, stating: "We are proud of the members of The Parents' Network, who continue to come together as a community to support one another and ensure that no child is lost to social media."

The Archewell Foundation's message states: "Today we mark Social Media Harms Remembrance Day. This day was designated in 2024 by a bipartisan resolution in the US Senate to commemorate the lives of young people who have lost their lives due to online harm.
"The day was put forward by several members of The Parents’ Network – the families of Carson Bride, Alexander Neville, and Devin Norring, three young people who tragically lost their lives in connection to harm on social media platforms.
