The lawyer who cross-examined Prince Harry has received fresh recognition.

Andrew Green KC, a barrister at Blackstone Chambers, has secured a place in The Lawyer magazine's Hot 100 2026, an annual list celebrating legal professionals who have made a notable mark on the industry.

The recognition follows his historic role questioning the Duke of Sussex during the Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) phone-hacking trial in 2023.

The High Court case attracted worldwide media attention as Prince Harry became the first senior royal to face cross-examination in over a century.

Mr Green represented MGN throughout the proceedings, which saw him spend eight hours questioning the duke about allegations of unlawful information gathering by the newspaper group.

According to The Lawyer's profile, Harry subsequently characterised his time in the witness box as "a bad experience with Mr Green".

Mr Green himself reflected on the experience, describing the eight hours he spent questioning the duke as "the most extraordinary experience" of his career.

The case drew an unusual level of public attention to the barrister's work, with proceedings broadcast and extensively reported across international media. Prince Harry settled his long-running lawsuit against MGN on February 9, 2024.

The 2023 trial with Prince Harry represented an exceptionally rare instance of direct legal confrontation involving a senior member of the monarchy.

The last occasion a member of the Royal Family underwent such courtroom scrutiny was in 1891, when Sir Edward Clarke questioned the then Prince of Wales, who would later become King Edward VII.

As Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VII appeared in court twice in the late 19th century due to scandals involving his high-society lifestyle.

He testified in a 1870 divorce case to deny an affair with Lady Mordaunt, and again in 1891 regarding a card-cheating scandal, widely referred to as the "Tranby Croft affair".

The Duke of Sussex has since returned to court, giving evidence last week in a separate privacy case against Associated Newspapers, publisher of the Daily Mail, where he again faced lengthy questioning from opposing counsel.

The Lawyer noted that Mr Green's standing within the profession extends well beyond his single high-profile case with Prince Harry.

His reputation has been built primarily through his expertise in complex commercial litigation, where he has established himself as one of the most frequently instructed advocates at the Bar.

Mr Green was called to the Bar after initially contemplating a business career, and he became a King's Counsel in 2010.

Major international law firms regularly seek his services for high-value litigation matters.

BM Brazil has instructed him in a significant mining contract case.
