The Duke of Sussex has launched several public attacks on senior members of the Royal Family

Prince Harry has been told to "swallow his pride" to secure a breakthrough in crunch talks with King Charles.

The Duke of Sussex has confirmed that he will return to the UK next month to appear at a WellChild award ceremony on September 7.

The charity event falls on the eve of the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's death.

A royal commentator has stated that Harry's return to the UK will be an opportune moment to hold peace talks with the King.

Marlene Koenig said: "I think this would be a good opportunity for Harry to swallow his pride and see his father privately.

"It might not be a successful meeting, but I think it is important for the King to see his younger son because he’s made it clear [that] he loves Harry."

The Royal Family is not holding a public event to mark the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's death.

The late Queen died peacefully at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on September 8 2022.

King Charles and Camilla are expected to stay at the Balmoral estate to mark the anniversary privately.

Koenig said: "This would be a good time to visit his father, who will be spending time quietly at Balmoral on the 8th, perhaps with other members of the family."

Prince Harry launched several public attacks on senior members of the Royal Family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, in his memoir Spare.

The Duke of Sussex has barely spoken to Prince William and Princess Kate since January 2023, following the release of his autobiography.

It comes as Prince Harry could be forced to make an awkward request to King Charles upon his return to the UK.

Harry will likely have to ask his father for permission to stay at one of the Royal Family's residences.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex no longer have a base in the UK after the King evicted them from Frogmore Cottage earlier this year.

If Prince Harry does not wish to stay at a royal residence, he could seek to source private accommodation for his stay in September.
