Prince Harry has made a promise to King Charles during their meeting at Clarence House on Wednesday.
The estranged father and son reunited in London for “a private tea” after more than a year and a half spent apart, Buckingham Palace confirmed.
What was discussed behind the closed doors of Clarence House for their short meeting is not known, with the Duke of Sussex vowing to his father that he would keep their discussion private.
“He has told his father he won't be giving any interviews about it and his team have been instructed not to brief journalists about what was said,” a royal insider said of the meeting.

While the specifics remain unclear, the insider was convinced yesterday's audience represented a move towards reconciliation between the father and son.
“This is an important first step towards rebuilding their father-and-son relationship,” the source said.
“There's a long way to go before Harry can earn his family's trust but he's given some assurances,” they told the Daily Mail.
King Charles and Prince Harry last met in February 2024, just days after Buckingham Palace announced that the monarch was undergoing cancer treatment.

The Duke of Sussex has been in the UK since Monday, returning to London for a four-day trip.
Eyebrows were raised on Wednesday when it emerged the King had flown from Aberdeen to London, bringing him within a short drive of his estranged son.
The Royal Standard was raised at Buckingham Palace, officially confirming the monarch was in the capital.
While he undertook routine duties at Clarence House, Harry was filmed being sped into the building in the back of a Range Rover.

The meeting lasted for just under an hour, with the Palace later confirming the King and his youngest son had met for “a private tea”.
After the audience, Harry left for another engagement in London for his Invictus Games organisation.
While there, Harry was quizzed about the meeting and his father.
“Yes he’s great, thank you,” the Duke of Sussex responded.

Prince Harry's four-day trip saw him pay tribute to his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, on the third anniversary of her death.
He would also attend the WellChild Awards on and make major charitable donations during a number of engagements.
The Duke of Sussex's time in the UK will draw to a close on the evening of Thursday, September 11.
Harry will then fly back to the US to be reunited with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
