The veteran's comments come after Prince Harry's emotional interview with the BBC, which aired today following his failed legal challenge over UK security arrangements.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, spoke with BBC's Nada Tawfik near his home in Santa Barbara, California.

In the interview, Harry responded to the Court of Appeal's rejection of his challenge regarding his UK security arrangements.

Speaking on Patrick Christys' live show, a GB News guest said: "It's sad because being an ex-military veteran myself, he's done so much good work.

"He has, and he's pressed the self-destruct button. And it's just sad to see that, we seem to be overshadowing that good work he has done.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

"He's done that himself. Now, there are so many things that probably going on in his head at the moment and doing what he's done, he's probably embarrassed himself.

"He's embarrassed that he threw his family under the bus for no reason. Now there should be an opportunity for him to come back. We seem to forget his time in Afghanistan.

"We seem to forget his time with the Invictus Games, which is absolutely fantastic achievement. We've got to take our hats off to that for the veterans as well that he's worked with. Fantastic.

"But what he needs is to be given the opportunity to come back to the UK."

The interview has been described as a "bombshell" by multiple news outlets, with Harry making comments he has never made before.

During the interview, Harry revealed that his father, King Charles, "won't speak to me" and launched a series of scathing attacks on his family.

The Duke admitted he "doesn't know how long his father has left" and expressed uncertainty about reconciliation.

He suggested that some family members "may never forgive" him for writing his memoir.

Despite the tensions, Harry stated that he wants "reconciliation" with the Royal Family.

The prince also revealed he had experienced "so many disagreements" with his relatives. The emotional interview came after Harry was reportedly "devastated" by losing his security appeal.

Harry told the BBC he "can't see a world" in which he would bring his wife and children back to the UK.

"The things that they're going to miss is, well, everything you know," he said.

The Duke added: "I love my country, I always have done, despite what some people in that country have done."
