The royal is scheduled to begin giving his evidence at 11:30am today

The publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday has been accused of "dirty tricks" by a source close to Prince Harry's team after they closed their opening arguments a day earlier than expected.

The Duke of Sussex is taking to the witness box this morning to be cross-examined about why he believes he is a victim of unlawful information gathering by Associated Newspapers (ANL).

His testimony was originally scheduled for Thursday, but the conclusion of opening arguments from both sides came sooner than anticipated.

A source close to the duke's camp has told GB News: “ANL have had months to inform the court that their opening argument would last less than two hours, instead, they have had to resort to game playing and dirty tricks - consistent with the way they have treated not just the duke but all of the victims in this case.”

The source continued: “They think that by pulling the schedule forward 24 hours, they are giving Prince Harry less time to prepare - he’s been preparing for this moment for the last three years. Safe to say, he’s ready.”

The Duke of Sussex is one of seven high-profile claimants suing the publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday for alleged unlawful information gathering, including phone tapping and “blagging” private records.

Associated Newspapers has described the claims as weak and argued that they have been brought too late.

ANL is adamant its journalists relied on legitimate sources.

Prince Harry is expected to begin his evidence at 11:30am today at the High Court in Central London.

The Duke of Sussex is among several prominent figures pursuing claims against ANL, with Sir Elton John, his husband David Furnish, Baroness Doreen Lawrence, Sir Simon Hughes, Sadie Frost and Liz Hurley also bringing action against the publisher.

The group alleges that ANL engaged in unlawful methods to obtain information for stories, including intercepting phone communications and fraudulently acquiring private records through deception.
