Peace talks between representatives of the Duke of Sussex and King Charles met in secret last month

Prince Harry’s recent gestures towards the Royal Family may be falling on deaf ears as "suspicion" of him remains high, according to a royal commentator.

The Duke of Sussex’s attempts to repair the rift with his father, King Charles, have been slammed as "desperate".

The damning verdict comes as whispers of rapprochement between Harry and the Royal Family have gathered steam since it emerged representatives of the Duke and his father had met in secret for peace talks.

More recently, it was suggested the prince had offered to share his diary dates with the firm in an effort to "deconflict" their respective engagements.

However, royal expert Hilary Fordwich was unimpressed with Harry’s efforts.

"Harry is now desperate," her bruising analysis began.

"While this self-serving gesture is notable, it won't do much to mitigate suspicion and caution on the royal side," she observed.

The expert explained that Harry’s split from the Royal Family in 2020 and subsequent frosty relations had left deep scars.

"King Charles is now more guarded than ever, indeed somewhat traumatised by a string of betrayals," Fordwich told Fox News.

She detailed that Palace insiders suggest the King harbours particular concerns about the possibility of private family moments being exposed to public scrutiny once again.

"According to royal sources, Charles is being 'cautious and wary' regarding fearing further unsavoury leaks, especially private Royal Family gatherings being publicised yet again," the expert revealed.

The Prince of Wales presents perhaps the most formidable obstacle to any potential reconciliation, with Fordwich indicating William views his brother's return to the royal fold as a serious error in judgement.

"Overall, doubt still prevails in Prince William’s camp. He considers any reconciliation at all as a 'grave mistake,’" she claimed.

William’s senior advisers share his view, believing that allowing Harry back into the royal fold could lead to further controversies and instability.

She explained: "His senior royal courtiers are understood to be just as wary and immensely protective of the future monarch. They only see (a reconciliation) as creating more bombshells, as well as instability."

Tom Bower, a royal author who has written extensively about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, similarly claimed that Harry feared being unable to reconnect with his brother before William one day ascends to the Throne.

He suggested the Duke was anxious: "William will literally banish him and he will have no status in Britain at all. He will be persona non grata."

Contrary to these analyses, a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex exclusively told GB News in response: "It’s funny how the people who know the least about him always have the most to say."

The resurgence of rapprochement rumours between Harry and King Charles occurred in early July when a meeting between representatives of the feuding father and son met in London.

Tobyn Andreae, the King's director of communications, sat down with with Meredith Maines, head of Harry's household in California, at the crunch talks earlier this month.

Harry and Meghan's PR chief in the UK, Liam Maguire, was also present at the meeting.
