The 12-year-old will be moving on from Lambrook School this summer, as he enters his teenage years

A royal author has added his thoughts as to where Prince George may enrol at secondary school, as he looks to move on from Lambrook this summer.

Just last week, Prince William revealed live on the radio that George was already boarding, as he prepares to move up from his current institution.

The 12-year-old has been touted to join a multitude of schools, such as Eton College, where his father himself did both his GCSEs and A-Levels. However, no announcement has yet been made on the youngsters' next place of education.

Nevertheless, George is evidently growing up fast - much to the concern of his uncle Prince Harry, according to Andrew Morton, who wrote the infamous 1992 biography Diana: Her True Story.

"The issue that always concerned Prince Harry, that he would be overshadowed by his brother's children, is coming true," he told the Daily Mail.

"George is looking every inch a very handsome young man."

George's two siblings, Charlotte, 11, and Louis, eight, currently enrol at Lambrook with him. Mr Morton believes this could be the case through secondary school, too.

He said: "The big debate is now: where are they going to send [George] to school?

"My guess is Oundle. They have already been there to have a look round. Maybe that's going to be the school for Charlotte too.

"They could decide to send all three of them to the same school, and a mixed private school would fit the bill."

Should George enrol at Oundle, he would become the first royal to do so, despite the fact the institution has held a Royal Charter since 1930.

The Prince and Princess of Wales were observed earlier this month taking Princess Charlotte to visit the school, with reports suggesting they may be contemplating enrolling all three of their children there.

The co-educational institution is located in Northamptonshire and costs a whopping £59,000 annually.

With both William and Harry attending Eton College, and believed to have enjoyed their time there, it naturally presents an obvious choice, as does the co-educational Marlborough College, attended by the Princess of Wales.

Eton is also practical, given that the Wales family resides in immediate proximity.

Gordonstoun School, situated less than two hours away from Balmoral Castle in Scotland, has also been an extremely popular destination for royals.

The late Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, attended Gordonstoun, and was followed by his three sons, King Charles, Prince Edward and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, Princess Anne's children, also went to Gordonstoun.

But Mr Morton remained insistent that Oulston could still be the frontrunner.

"Eton is obviously very much in the running," the royal biographer said.

"But one of the things you notice about William is that he doesn't exactly follow the structure of the Royal Family and those traditions.

"He might just go for somewhere very different from how he was educated."

An announcement is anticipated shortly, with Prince George set to conclude his time at Lambrook in early July.
