The Duchess of Sussex revealed her surprise when it came to having global attention

Meghan Markle has said her "discomfort" sparked a decision regarding Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The Duchess of Sussex spoke with businesswoman Emma Grede on her podcast "Aspire" to discuss her new lifestyle brand, As Ever.

During the interview, Grede asked Meghan, 43, if she was "comfortable" with being influential on the world stage when it comes to her fashion.

The Duchess bluntly replied: "I have to be. It's my life. You get to have an acceptance of what it is.

"I think what was so wild, maybe the surprise came in when anything that my children were wearing started to get monetised with affiliate sales and [became] part of headlines and things.

"That's where it became a little uncomfortable.

"But at the same time, you know, when it comes from a place of love and excitement - very, very different."

Meghan was referring to her ShopMy page on Instagram, which she launched earlier this year.

It is described as a “hand-picked and curated collection” of products from which she earns commission when followers purchase.

The mother-of-two later launched her "Easter Edit", featuring a selection of homeware, various gifts and children's wear.

The latter appeared to be heavily inspired by the wardrobes of Archie, six, and Lilibet, four.

Meghan continued to tell Grede: "Then you can be happy about it and say, of course, have the same dress that Lili has.

"It's when it comes from a different side... but that's true with most things in life."

When asked if being influential came as a surprise, Meghan burst out laughing and said: "At the beginning, of course! What is happening?

"I mean yeah, wild... but you have to think too, the seven years before that on Suits - that was a very fashion-driven show.

"People loved Rachel Zane's wardrobe, which I was very, very involved with, because I wanted it to look like a capsule that a real woman would wear, a mix and match.

"I was one of the only characters that rewore pieces, and that was by design.

"So I knew that there was influence there, but yes, it certainly got bigger."
