King Charles has suspended his attempts to remove his brother from the property

Prince Andrew is facing pressure over Royal Lodge as the Crown Estate is growing frustrated with the state of external repairs to the 30-room Windsor mansion, according to new claims.

Whilst King Charles has suspended his attempts to remove his brother from the property, the Crown Estate, which owns Royal Lodge, is thought to be losing patience with the disgraced prince.

A dispute has emerged over who bears responsibility for extensive external repairs needed at the mansion.

Andrew has maintained the interior of the property, but questions remain about the building's exterior condition.

The Duke of York secured a 75-year lease in 2003 and has invested more than £7.5million in renovations.

A crucial deadline looms in 2028, marking 25 years since Andrew was granted the lease. This date could trigger his removal from the property.

According to the Mail, Andrew "is entitled to a partial rebate on his outgoings if given the order of the boot at the end of his first 25 years of his lease."

The significance of this deadline means Andrew should be safe from eviction for another three years at least.

However, the 2028 date represents a potential turning point when he could face removal whilst receiving compensation for his substantial £7.5million investment in renovations.

The dispute centres on who should fund the extensive external repairs required at the mansion.

Recent reports indicate the building's exterior is deteriorating, with suggestions it is "crumbling and falling into a dilapidated state" outside.

The Crown Estate's growing impatience suggests mounting pressure on the Duke to address these issues.

As part of his 75-year lease, the Duke of York agreed to maintain Royal Lodge.

Royal Lodge reportedly requires approximately £5million annually to maintain. Despite a recent review showing Andrew's finances are in "surprisingly good health," the substantial upkeep costs and repair disputes present ongoing challenges for the 65-year-old Duke.

Andrew has shown determination to remain at the Windsor property he shares with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.

After King Charles removed his taxpayer-funded security in October last year, hoping to persuade him to relocate to somewhere smaller like Frogmore Cottage, Andrew secured his own private security arrangements.

The source of funding for this private security has not been disclosed. Andrew has been largely excluded from royal duties since his 2019 Newsnight interview about his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, remaining stripped of his royal titles.
