The Princess of York joined forces with her younger sister, Princess Eugenie

Princess Beatrice has reflected on Sarah Ferguson's strength amid her divorce from Prince Andrew during the 1990s.

The Princess of York joined forces with her younger sister, Princess Eugenie, on a podcast to discuss their mother, the Duchess of York.

Beatrice, 36, and Eugenie, 35, sat down with Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend, Cressida Bonas, and her half-sister, Isabella Branson, for their podcast, Lessons From Our Mothers.

Bonas is good friends with the York sisters, and attended Princess Eugenie's royal wedding to Jack Brooksbank in 2018.

During the podcast, the sisters were asked about their favourite memory of their mother, Fergie.

Princess Beatrice recalled a story about when the Duchess would try and hurry her daughters along for school by enticing them with breakfast in the car.

The mother-of-two called this "one of [her] earliest memories" due to Fergie's "ability to jump into any situation".

Beatrice explained: "There was always an adventure to be had and now it’s so fun reflecting and looking back to say some of the harder times, through divorce, and through challenging moments, there was always an adventure.

"She had an ability to jump into things with two feet and that is an amazing early memories of us - this way with which she just brought that joy to moments, including running late for school.”

Prince Andrew and Sarah separated in 1992 as the Duke of York's service in the Royal Navy meant long periods away from his wife, creating distance and strain on their marriage.

Fergie also wanted to work outside the Royal Family, something not traditionally allowed for a member of the royal household.

She later explained that this was a primary reason for the divorce.

That same year, a photograph of Sarah with American financial adviser John Bryan, where Bryan appeared to be licking her foot, was published in the media, adding to the public scrutiny of their marriage.

While they separated in 1992, the divorce was finalised in 1996 to allow Sarah to pursue her career and gain greater financial freedom.

Despite their separation and divorce, the Duke and Duchess of York have remained close friends and often spend time together, living near each other at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

They were last seen together on Easter Sunday when they joined King Charles and Queen Camilla at St George's Chapel for the church service.
