Meghan Markle has spoken publicly for the first time about her viral "Baby Momma Dance" video from the delivery room.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, discussed the candid footage during an appearance on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast, set to air on Tuesday.

The video, which shows her dancing and twerking with Prince Harry, 40, was originally posted on Instagram on June 4 to mark their daughter Princess Lilibet's fourth birthday.

During the podcast preview, Meghan expressed enthusiasm about sharing more of her genuine personality online, telling Grede: "You have to be authentic."

The four-year-old footage emerged from Meghan's labour with Lilibet, showing a moment when traditional methods hadn't induced delivery.

"Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due dates so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work there was only one thing left to do!" Meghan wrote in her Instagram caption.

Speaking to Grede, the Duchess emphasised the disconnect between public perception and reality.

"That was four years ago," she said in a clip provided to People Magazine.

"So it's also a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there's still a whole life a real, authentic, fun life that's happening behind the scenes," the Duchess continued.

Grede, the founding partner and chief product officer of SKIMS and CEO of Good American, revealed she had watched the video multiple times.

"We maybe watched it like 20 times yesterday, and I was like, is that, is that her? Is that Prince Harry there with the fingers... I was like, okay... good on Harry, let's go," she said.

The London-born entrepreneur praised Meghan's openness, adding: "But that's you, right? Like that's you in a way that we kind of haven't been able to see you before."

She continued: "And I did like a little secret cheer, cause I was like, well, that's what I kind of want to see from you. Like I wanna see that happiness and that honesty and that 'I don't give a f***' kind of thing."

The Duchess expressed gratitude for her return to social media, where she can control her narrative. "I'm just grateful that now, being back on social as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms," she told Grede.

After the video's initial publishing, Meghan was said to be "pleased" with the global reaction.

“In the UK everyone’s reaction has been a bit prudish but everywhere else, particularly in America and especially with young people, it has been a huge hit,” an insider told the Daily Mail.

As of June 16, the Instagram reel has accrued a massive 49,6 million views since its release.

It dwarves the view count of her previous record, the announcement of her lifestyle brand, As Ever, which was watched 27.8 million times.

Since posting the delivery room video, Meghan has shared additional family content on Instagram.

She posted previously unseen photographs of Prince Harry with Lilibet on her birthday, describing "the sweetest bond" between father and daughter.

On Father's Day, she shared more footage of Harry with both their children, Prince Archie, 6, and Lilibet, captioning the post: "The best. Happy Father's Day to our favorite guy."
