Meghan Markle marked Princess Lilibet's fourth birthday on June 4 by sharing previously unseen photographs on Instagram, revealing a touching family connection.
The images showed infant Lilibet wrapped in the same merino wool blanket from British knitwear brand G.H. Hurt & Son that her older brother Prince Archie wore during his public debut in 2019.
People Magazine confirmed the blanket was identical to the one used when Prince Harry and Meghan introduced two-day-old Archie to the world at Windsor Castle.
The newly released photograph captured a special moment with baby Lilibet sleeping against her mother's chest, wearing a striped hat whilst swaddled in the heritage British brand's blanket.
Meghan Markle marked Princess Lilibet's fourth birthday on June 4 by sharing previously unseen photographs on Instagram, revealing a touching family connection.
"Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today she came into our lives - and each day is brighter and better because of it," Meghan wrote in her Instagram post.
G.H. Hurt & Son has been crafting baby shawls for the Royal Family since Queen Elizabeth received one for Prince Charles in 1948.
The Nottingham-based knitwear company has maintained its position as a trusted supplier to successive generations of royals for over seven decades.
Prince Harry and Meghan chose the Ivory White Leaves and Flowers Baby Shawl from the heritage brand when they introduced Prince Archie at St George's Hall in Windsor Castle on 8 May 2019.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated their daughter's fourth birthday on Wednesday.
The couple also selected a matching cashmere baby hat from the same maker, which came as part of a set with mittens.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's decision to use the same blanket for both their children demonstrates their commitment to maintaining certain royal traditions whilst forging their own path.
The Instagram carousel opened with a more recent photograph of mother and daughter embracing on a boat, alongside the infant photo.
