Fierce debates online have arisen about attendance at the premiere

The stars of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s latest production, Cookie Queens, have spoken about their interaction with the duchess.

Archewell Productions produced the documentary, which focuses on the experience of a group of Girl Scouts as they sell various snacks to support their group.

The 91-minute documentary premiered on Saturday at the Sundance Film Festival, with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex making a surprise appearance at the premiere.

Girl Scout Nikki B, spoke on her interaction with Meghan, revealing: “It feels, like, crazy. I always read about them in my books like, oh, the princesses and kings, and then I actually get to meet one.

Nikki’s older sister Nala, also revealed: “When I first found out that I was meeting the duke and duchess, I was like, ‘Are you serious? Are you sure?’ But yeah, I’m really excited. I’m so stoked.”

Olive G, a scout from Charlotte, added: “It’s just crazy to me because me and my parents watch [Meghan and Harry’s] documentary on Netflix and now they’ve watched me [in the documentary]. That’s just crazy.”

Director Alysa Nahmias spoke on the importance of the Girl Scouts industry and what it teaches young girls, stating: “The cookies are a £600 million [a year] business that’s very profitable, and these girls are doing that and they’re making a cut of that [for their troupes].

“But at what cost?”

She continued saying that pressure comes from “parents and the Girl Scouts organisation and the girls themselves. But also, I think it’s a broader social question, right? About kids and pressure and how early kids are introduced to participation in the economy… It’s a crash course in capitalism for young people.”

A fierce online dispute has erupted between supporters and critics of Meghan and Harry, following the world premiere of the documentary.

Reports stated numerous seats remained unfilled at the Eccles Theatre screening on Sunday morning.

However, fans of the couple have rejected these claims, describing them as a fabricated conspiracy designed to undermine Harry and Meghan and the Archewell Productions project.

The row has intensified on social media, with both camps exchanging accusations and sharing photographs from inside the venue to bolster their competing narratives about attendance figures.

The New York Post reported that approximately 150 seats were vacant when the Cookie Queens premiere commenced on Sunday morning, with festival passes costing as much as $7,000.

Page Six claimed this figure dropped to around 60 empty seats once the film started ten minutes behind schedule.

Photographs circulating online appeared to show considerable gaps in the balcony section above the packed stalls area before the screening began.

Sussex supporters have countered these reports with what they consider definitive proof.

Multiple fans posted screenshots from ticket booking websites demonstrating that no seats were available for the premiere or subsequent screenings in the following days.

The contrast with the previous evening was notable, when attendees were reportedly turned away from Olivia Wilde's The Invite, featuring Seth Rogen, Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton.
