The royal couple have not announced any new projects since their Spotify podcast was dumped

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry always appear to have the "capacity to surprise" with their new projects, particularly after their latest setbacks, a royal expert claims.

Talking about what could be on the cards for the Sussexes, Richard Fitzwilliams said people should expect "something" from Harry and Meghan.

After experiencing several setbacks, including the axing of their Spotify podcast after just one series, a new venture is expected to be announced soon.

It comes after the couple were also snubbed in the nominations for the Primetime Emmys.

The couple's Netflix docu-series Harry & Meghan was not put forward for recognition for the prestigious awards.

According to one royal expert, their deal with Netflix is also said to be in a "precarious" position, with no immediate proposals in sight.

"It's unclear, at the moment, what the Sussexes plan to do," Fitzwilliams told The Express.

"Don't forget they have always had the capacity to surprise. Well, having said that, it simply isn't clear. I'm surprised there hasn't been an initiative [so far]."

The royal commentator explained that despite Meghan signing a "new agent and a new agency" earlier this year, there still hasn't been an announcement regarding any new initiatives.

However, Fitzwilliams said that this is "likely to lead to something".

The couple signed the multi-million-pound deal with Spotify in 2020, just several months after making the decision to step back as senior working royals.

But the Sussexes did not produce anything for the streaming platform until last summer.

The only project released through Spotify was Meghan's podcast series, Archetypes.

In January, Dawn Ostroff, who was responsible for leading the negotiations on Meghan and Harry's deal with Spotify left the company.

The series had 12 episodes and included guest appearances from Serena Williams, Mariah Carey and Paris Hilton but it left executives underwhelmed.
