Buckingham Palace announced the King's planned procedure on Wednesday

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may have found out about King Charles's prostate diagnosis from the news.

Buckingham Palace made an effort to inform all senior members of the Royal Family regarding the King's condition including relaying a message to the Duke of Sussex.

However, the public announcement regarding the monarch's health came at 3:25pm UK time which would have been 7:25am in California.

It is thought Prince Harry may have seen the news alert regarding his father's upcoming prostate operation before any private message, according to The Telegraph.

On Wednesday evening, Buckingham Palace said in a statement: "In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate.

"His Majesty's condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure.

"The King’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation."

In the controversial royal book Endgame, author Omid Scobie claimed that Prince Harry found out Queen Elizabeth II had died through a BBC News notification on his phone.

Scobie claimed that Prince Harry boarded a plane to Scotland not knowing if the Queen was still alive.

A source said: "His [Harry's] team literally had to beg for them to wait for his plane to land and they reluctantly agreed to hold the statement back for a little bit."

The Royal Family were unable to reach the Duke of Sussex during his 70-minute flight despite many attempts and decided to announce the Queen's death before telling Harry privately.

The book claimed that when Prince Harry landed in Scotland he received a text from Meghan urging him to call her as soon as possible followed by a breaking news notification from the BBC announcing the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Duke of Sussex "was crushed" by the news according to a source.

A friend of the Harry's told Scobie: "His relationship with the Queen was everything to him.

"She would have wanted him to know before it went out to the world.

"They could have waited just a little longer, it would have been nothing in the grand scheme of things, but no one respected that at all."
