Sources cited stock challenges amid the Duchess of Sussex's rapid business growth

The technical flaw on Meghan Markle's As Ever lifestyle platform has now been rectified following widespread attention online.

After posts detailing the apparent stock figures gained significant traction, the website was swiftly updated to close the loophole and introduce quantity restrictions on purchases.

Customers are now limited to ordering a maximum of 50 gift boxes of spreads or 20 bottles of wine per transaction.

Anyone attempting to place an excessively large order is met with an error notification stating: "The quantity requested exceeds our current stock. Please adjust your order or contact support for bulk inquiries."

As Ever has not issued any public statement regarding the vulnerability that briefly exposed what appeared to be its complete inventory figures.

Sources close to the duchess have highlighted her earlier remarks about the challenges of managing stock levels for a rapidly growing enterprise.

In an interview with Bloomberg's The Circuit, she previously addressed the difficulties of products selling out almost immediately after launch.

"When you sell out that quickly you actually, it's a double-edged sword because it's an incredible thing to happen for any small business and any startup," she explained.

The duchess revealed that after initial products disappeared within minutes, she increased inventory tenfold for the subsequent release, only for that to sell out within hours.

"Suddenly the conversation goes from, at the start of this year, talking about a few thousand jars and lids, to we need to do a purchase order of a million," she told the programme.

The discovery originated from online investigators who found they could expose the website's inventory data through a simple workaround.

Reddit users identified that by attempting to add an unusually high quantity of products to their shopping basket, the system would respond by revealing the actual stock available.

According to the alleged figures obtained through this method, the As Ever platform held more than 572,000 lifestyle products, including spreads, teas and candles.

The wine collection appeared to contain over 77,000 bottles awaiting purchase, comprising nearly 7,000 bottles of Brut, approximately 46,000 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc, and close to 24,000 bottles of Rosé.

If sold at full retail prices, this combined inventory would generate revenue exceeding $21million (£15million) for the Duchess of Sussex.

The detailed breakdown of alleged stock included more than 220,000 jars of spread, 30,000 jars of honey, approximately 90,000 candles and over 110,000 jars of tea.

Edible flower sprinkles appeared to number around 80,000 units, whilst mulling spice kits totalled roughly 30,000 across two varieties.

A Reddit user operating under the name InfiniteSky55 first uncovered the vulnerability by attempting to add 200,000 of each product to their basket.

This prompted other users to verify the findings, creating considerable online activity as people tested the exploit themselves.

The data also offered potential insights into consumer preferences, with the Signature No 519 candle, commemorating the Sussexes' wedding date, apparently outselling the No 084 version named after the duchess's birthday.
