Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has indicated that King Charles may have already signalled his willingness to accept President Trump's invitation to visit the United States.

He pointed to the monarch's repeated references to the War of Independence during Trump's recent UK visit as particularly significant.

"It's very interesting that King Charles mentioned the War of Independence a lot," Mr Fitzwilliams stated during a GB News appearance. "It was absolutely fascinating."

The royal expert suggested these historical references may have been deliberate, noting that maintaining strong ties with Mr Trump remains crucial despite describing him as an "erratic President."

Mr Fitzwilliams emphasised the importance of "keeping him on board" in the context of the special relationship between the two nations.

Mr Fitzwilliams lavished praise on the ceremonial splendour of President Trump's recent state visit to Britain.

He described the event as "the most glorious seduction" and highlighted Mr Trump's deep appreciation for the Royal Family.

"We had the carriage procession and over 1,000 troops lining the route. We had the inspection with no less than three guards, which was absolutely unique," Mr Fitzwilliams remarked.

The commentator observed that the monarch and his wife appeared to establish excellent rapport with the American president and first lady.

"The King and Queen and President Trump and First Lady Melania seemed to get on extremely well, I thought," he said.

Mr Fitzwilliams concluded that the ceremonial display was "absolutely breathtaking," asserting that "no one else in the world can put on a show quite as well orchestrated as that."

President Trump intends to extend a formal invitation for King Charles to undertake a state visit to America, according to a White House official. The proposed visit would be organised independently from America's 250th anniversary commemorations.

Mr Trump has consistently expressed admiration for British culture and the monarchy. During his recent UK visit, he referred to King Charles as "my friend."

The White House has not disclosed potential dates or specific arrangements for the visit. If realised, this would mark the first state visit by a British monarch to America since Queen Elizabeth's 2007 trip.

During President Trump's UK visit, King Charles delivered warm remarks about the enduring bond between Britain and America. The monarch expressed his admiration for "the ingenuity of the American people and the principles of freedom, which your great democracy has represented since its inception."

The King revealed he has maintained strong connections with America throughout his life. "Throughout my life, from the very first visit to the United States in 1970 - and there were 20 visits since that time - I have cherished a close tie between the British and American people," he stated.

British monarchs have a long history of American state visits. Queen Elizabeth conducted five official visits to the US, starting with President Eisenhower in 1957. Her final state visit occurred in 2007 during George W Bush's presidency.
