The King has addressed "anxious Canadians" as the monarch appeared to reference a threat from US President Donald Trump.
King Charles and Queen Camilla are visiting Canada on a brief whistlestop tour, as the King is the Monarch of Canada as a Commonwealth nation.
Sat in the Senate Chamber at the Senate of Canada Building for the State Opening of the Parliament of Canada, the King said: “Many Canadians are feeling anxious and worried about the drastically changing world around them.
"Canadians can give themselves far more than any foreign power on any continent can ever take away."

The King appeared to be referencing US President Trump's continuous taunting of Canadians, calling their country the "51st state".
He added: "And that by staying true to Canadian values, Canada can build new alliances and a new economy that serves all Canadians.”
The US President has said that Canada can avoid higher taxes if it joins the United States and becomes its 51st state.
Trump initiated a trade war with Canada and Mexico by imposing a 25 per cent tariff on both countries, but later granted indefinite exemptions for goods compliant with the USMCA.

This means it will be tougher for Canadian companies to do business with the US.
The Canadian province of Ontario later retaliated and announced a 25 per cent extra charge on electricity going to the US.
Earlier in May, Prime Minister Mark Carney said he had invited the King to formally open Canada's 45th session of Parliament.
His request was viewed as a strategic one, as it came amid strained ties between Canada and its powerful neighbour, the United States.

In the past, Trump disparagingly referred to Carney's predecessor, Justin Trudeau, as "Governor Trudeau".
Speaking in Ottawa, Carney said the King's visit "clearly underscores the sovereignty of our country". He told reporters: "This is a historic honour that matches the weight of our times."
Canada's Governor General Mary Simon said the visit "highlights the enduring relationship between Canada and the Crown".
"Now more than ever, we need to come together to ensure a future that builds on our shared global values of democracy, equality and peace," she said.
