The monarch concluded his two-day trip of Bermuda by visiting the island's coast

King Charles attended a Coast Guard Station Opening in Bermuda this afternoon, as he brought the second and last day of his trip to a close.

The monarch today embarked on his final engagements on what has been a successful trip over the Atlantic this week.

The King opened the new Great Bay Coast Guard Station, where he heard about the Royal Bermuda Regiment’s Coast Guard's critical work protecting the island.

He also viewed two new pieces of technology, unmanned underwater vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles, that are now being used by the regiment.

Youngsters from the Junior Leader programme then discussed their involvement with the scheme.

Finally, the King awarded operational service medals to five members of the regiment, congratulating them for their commitment to protecting the island.

The engagement took place during the second part of King Charles's final day on his two-day visit to Bermuda, following his four-day state visit to the United States.

The day began when His Majesty officially launched the UK Space Agency's Project Nova, an ambitious initiative designed to monitor debris orbiting Earth.

The Project Nova initiative will see the establishment of a new UKSA observatory on the island, forming part of an international network spanning five locations worldwide.

During his visit to the observatory site, the King received a comprehensive briefing on how this cutting-edge monitoring programme will contribute to safeguarding space infrastructure.

Yesterday marked yet another action-packed day for the King, as he was welcomed with open arms by local Bermudans after he touched down for his solo trip of the island.

Governor Andrew Murdoch and Premier David Burt, accompanied by his wife Kristin, welcomed the monarch on the tarmac, where members of the Royal Bermuda Regiment formed a guard of honour.

Swathes of schoolchildren and local residents gathered to witness the occasion, which featured full military honours.

He later explored a museum exhibition examining Bermuda's historical ties to the Transatlantic Slave Trade, deepening his knowledge of the island's past.

In addition, King Charles attended a performance by the Gombey dancers today, one of Bermuda's most distinctive cultural traditions.

He then met with Bermuda's Premier David Burt on Friday, extending his overseas engagements following the conclusion of his American State Visit.

Finally, the King brought his first full day in Bermuda to a close with a garden party at Government House on Friday evening, gathering guests from across the island's diverse community.

The garden party assembled representatives from all walks of Bermudian life, providing the King with an opportunity to meet islanders in a more relaxed setting after the formal ceremonies earlier in the day.
