The British and Luxembourg royals share distant family ties
King Charles hosted Luxembourg royalty for dinner at Windsor Castle this week.
The monarch welcomed Grand Duke Henri, the head of the Luxembourg Royal Family, to his Berkshire residence on Bank Holiday Monday.
In a photograph shared on the Grand Ducal Court’s Instagram, the duke and the King smile brightly in the Grand Corridor at Windsor Castle.
The King wore a smart navy suit with an off-white shirt and blue checked tie while the duke wore a black suit and patent shoes.

A wide selection of furniture, paintings and statues can be seen in the background underneath a gilded ceiling and domed window.
The caption on the social media post read: “During a short stay in England, HRH the Grand Duke was received on Monday by HM King Charles III for a dinner at Windsor Castle.”
King Charles and Henri are distant cousins through King George II and Queen Caroline who ruled Britain in the mid-1700s.
The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa were among the guests at last year’s Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Henri is the eldest son of the five children of the Grand Duke Jean and Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte.
On February 14, 1981, the duke married Maria Teresa Mestre at the Notre-Dame Cathedral of Luxembourg.
The couple went on to have five children and recently welcomed their eighth grandchild following the birth of their daughter Princess Alexandra’s first child.
It comes after the Royal Family announced that engagements will be postponed following the Prime Minister’s statement calling for a general election.
