King Charles burst into laughter today when a Love Island star invited the monarch to work out at his gym.

The fitness invitation from reality television champion Liam Reardon marked an unusual moment during the King's royal birthday festivities in South Wales.

The monarch celebrated turning 77 at a reception held at Cyfarthfa Castle in Merthyr Tydfil, where 2021 Love Island victor Mr Reardon proposed an unexpected offer.

The television personality suggested the King might visit his soon-to-open fitness facility for a training session.

"I'm opening a gym next week, so if you ever fancy a little session, let me know, we'll have a little session together," Mr Reardon told the monarch during their encounter at the historic venue.

The monarch's response revealed his commitment to physical fitness, disclosing that he maintains a twice-daily workout schedule.

Charles responded with amusement to the proposal, stating: "I try to do my exercise twice a day."

The exchange continued with mutual appreciation for fitness. Mr Reardon later recounted how he complimented the King's physical condition, saying: "You look fit anyway."

This prompted Charles to confirm: "I train twice a day." The reality star responded enthusiastically: "I can tell."

The King expressed interest in the gym venture, enquiring about the new facility whilst maintaining good humour throughout the conversation.

The celebration brought together prominent Welsh figures from entertainment and social media.

Gavin and Stacey actress Ruth Jones joined the gathering alongside TikTok personality Lewis Leigh, creating an eclectic mix of guests at the historic venue.

Local enterprises and organisations connected to royal patronages were represented at the community event.

Businesses, including Coco's Coffee and Candles and Enaid Wellness, participated in the festivities.

The birthday celebration reached its peak when attendees serenaded the King with Happy Birthday.

Charles then sliced into a specially crafted confection - a vanilla sponge creation designed to resemble Cyfarthfa Castle, complete with jam and buttercream filling.

The historic castle, constructed in 1825 as home to ironmaster William Crawshay, marks its bicentenary this year.

Whilst the King celebrated at the castle, Queen Camilla undertook a separate engagement at Cyfarthfa Primary School.

Her visit coincided with Poetry Together Day, where she participated in educational activities with students.

The Queen observed a guided reading session facilitated by community volunteers. She subsequently attended a school gathering where pupils presented poetry performances as part of the national initiative celebrating verse and literacy.
