The King bestowed honours upon 68 individuals at Windsor Castle today, with Luther star Sir Idris Elba among the most prominent recipients collecting his knighthood.
The 53-year-old actor was recognised for his services to young people, an honour announced in the New Year Honours list.
Sir Idris established the Elba Hope Foundation four years ago, an organisation dedicated to community empowerment, education, youth advocacy and sustainable development.
The actor's own journey was shaped by charitable support, having received funding from what was then the Prince's Trust to attend the National Youth Music Theatre when he was 18.

His relationship with the monarch extends beyond today's ceremony.
It was revealed last year that Sir Idris would collaborate with the King on a Netflix documentary celebrating five decades since Charles established the charity, with the programme scheduled for release this autumn.
Joining Sir Idris at the royal residence were Olympic ice dancing legends Dame Jayne Torvill and Sir Christopher Dean, writer and performer Dame Meera Syal, and Chuckle Brothers comedian Paul Elliott.
Dame Jayne and Sir Christopher received their honours for services to ice skating and voluntary work, capping remarkable careers that peaked with Olympic gold at the 1984 Winter Games in Sarajevo for their iconic "Bolero" routine.

The pair, who became household names as presenters of Dancing On Ice, performed together on the ice for the final time last year.
Dame Jayne, 68, described the timing as "perfect" following their farewell tour.
"We had such a great time, we were so happy with the tour and the fact that we got through it," she said.
"It was a big thing for us to mark our career before retirement, and then receiving this award at the end of the year, it's just finished everything. It's perfect."

Dame Meera Syal, 64, was honoured for her contributions to literature, drama and charity.
The Wolverhampton-born performer made her name writing and appearing in the BBC sketch comedy Goodness Gracious Me, and went on to star in The Kumars At No 42. She received the Bafta Fellowship in 2023, the academy's most prestigious career recognition.
Rotherham comedian Paul Elliott collected an MBE for his charitable endeavours. The surviving half of the Chuckle Brothers, whose ChuckleVision ran for nearly 300 episodes across the 1990s and 2000s, has become a dedicated ambassador for Marie Curie, whose nurses cared for his brother Barry at the end of his life.
The ceremony brought together figures from entertainment, sport and charitable work to receive recognition from the monarch at the historic Berkshire castle.
