King Charles has been forced to cancel holidays to an African spa and a Romanian hiking hotspot, according to reports, after the 76-year-old monarch had to reconsider his plans following a hospital visit on Thursday when he experienced side effects from his cancer treatment.
Palace officials described the trip to the London Clinic as an "unscheduled hospital visit" and a "minor bump in the road".
The King had to cancel engagements in both London and Birmingham as a result of his hospital stay.
The royal was due to join Queen Camilla at a luxury spa resort in Africa for a short holiday but was forced to pull out only days in advance, according to reports.

The King has also postponed his annual trip to Romania for hiking in the countryside this Spring, the Sun revealed.
An insider told the publication: "Charles is a hardworking King, but he needs and deserves occasional time off. It was unfortunate that he couldn’t fly with Camilla, as it was hoped they could have a well-earned break together.
"He adores Romania and looks forward to visiting every year, but it would have involved just too much walking and he can’t face it right now."
Charles owns a traditional farmhouse in the remote village of Viscri, which he purchased in 2006 after falling in love with the area.

His Majesty has also given up his annual skiing trip to Klosters in Switzerland, which he attended almost every spring for 45 years.
Sources insisted there was "no drama" and described the "brief" trip to hospital as being "connected to [his] treatment programme".
The Palace insists the King will be able to jet to Italy for a State visit, which kicks off on April 7.
