At the end of the message the monarch added a pink flower emoji and a picture of Charles kissing his mother’s hand during a polo match.

The photograph was taken in July 1985 after the Queen presented her eldest son with a prize at the sporting event.

Queen Elizabeth II passed away at 96-years-old on September 8, 2022, after reigning for over 70 years.

Following his mother’s death, Charles addressed the nation in a televised, heartfelt speech.

He began: “I speak to you today with feelings of profound sorrow.

“Throughout her life, Her Majesty The Queen – my beloved Mother – was an inspiration and example to me and to all my family, and we owe her the most heartfelt debt any family can owe to their mother; for her love, affection, guidance, understanding and example.”

He also acknowledged that as monarch it would “no longer be possible for me to give so much of my time and energies to the charities and issues for which I care so deeply."

Finally, Charles remembered his late father during the speech saying: “And to my darling Mama, as you begin your last great journey to join my dear late Papa, I want simply to say this: thank you.
