Charles and Camilla are beginning their annual holiday in Scotland

King Charles and Queen Camilla have been pictured at Balmoral for the first time this summer, with His Majesty driving Queen Camilla to a church service today.

The Queen sat in the passenger seat alongside her husband as they made their way to Crathie Kirk church, located near the castle.


Charles appeared at ease as he waved to onlookers while driving his Audi Q8 e-tron electric SUV to the service.

Camilla joined her husband in greeting members of the public and photographers with a smile.

The King and Queen donned smart outfits for the Sunday service,

King Charles, 76, wore a camel coat over a customary suit and tie.

Meanwhile, Queen Camilla donned a fetching hat with green and black feathers, which appeared to complement the rest of her outfit.

Crathie Kirk is the regular place of worship for the Royal Family when staying at Balmoral.

The King and Queen are in Scotland as part of their annual holiday north of the border.

While the trip usually begins in August, Charles’s break was delayed as he led commemorations for VJ Day.

Victory over Japan Day marks the end of World War Two across the world on August 15.

They were present at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire on Friday for a ceremony to mark the occasion.

Their Majesties were joined by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer alongside members of VJ associations, military personnel and senior politicians for the national service of remembrance.

The King laid a wreath in honour of those who died and led the nation in a two-minute silence at midday.

While there, Camilla was reduced to tears as a 105-year-old war veteran paid tribute to Charles during a speech.

Yavar Abbas saluted “my brave king” as he went off script for the personal message.

Mr Abbas directly addressed King Charles and praised him for being at the event despite the monarch’s ongoing cancer treatment.

The veteran added that the King's late grandfather, King George VI, would be proud of him.

King George VI, Queen Elizabeth II's father, battled lung cancer for years before he died in 1952.
