King Charles made his first public appearance since Christmas Day this morning, joining Prince Edward and the Duchess of Edinburgh for a service at St Mary Magdalene church in Sandringham, Norfolk.

The 77-year-old monarch attended the Sunday worship just three days after the festive celebrations.

Queen Camilla and other members of the Royal Family were absent from the outing.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh's children, Lady Louise Windsor and James Wessex, also did not join their parents for the service.

Well-wishers gathered outside the church to greet the King, who appeared in good spirits and relaxed as he made his way to the service.

The monarch dressed warmly against the December chill, wearing a long coat paired with suit trousers, an outfit choice mirrored by his younger brother, Prince Edward.

The Duchess of Edinburgh wore a lengthy beige coat, complemented by brown boots and a coordinating brown hat.

The King is anticipated to remain at the Sandringham estate throughout the remainder of the festive period before resuming official duties in the new year.

A quieter week lies ahead for the monarch following Thursday's Christmas gathering, which he hosted for the wider Royal Family at the Norfolk residence.

The festive day celebrations are understood to have featured traditional activities including a Christmas lunch and family games, with Prince William, Princess Catherine and their three children among those who attended.

On Christmas Day, King Charles demonstrated his support for Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, with a source stating that "His Majesty is very fond of them."

The two princesses participated in the traditional Christmas Day walk to St Mary Magdalene Church at Sandringham, appearing publicly alongside other members of the Royal Family.

Their presence at the festive gathering came as the York family faces continued scrutiny following their father's fall from grace.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who has been stripped of his royal titles, remains at the centre of ongoing scandal surrounding links to Jeffrey Epstein.

The Christmas church service at Sandringham represents one of the rare occasions when non-working royals appear publicly with the monarch.

Andrew and Sarah Ferguson were not in attendance at the event.

Beatrice and Eugenie have maintained their presence at these family gatherings throughout King Charles's reign, typically accompanied by their husbands Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Jack Brooksbank.
