Princess Kate has made a subtle return to one of her life’s passions as she was once again behind the lens for a new royal photo.
Kensington Palace shared a portrait taken by the Princess of Wales of her husband, Prince William, to mark the heir to the throne's 43rd birthday.
The image showed William sitting on a field alongside the Waleses' family dog, Orla, and her new, never-before-seen puppies.
GB News understands that Kate took the picture in Windsor earlier this month.

The caption featured the initials for Kate, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, reading: “Happy birthday! Love C, G, C, L, Orla and the puppies!”
The official message, using an image taken by the Princess of Wales, was a return to form from Kensington Palace, which recently opted to use a professional photographer instead.
The aid of the photographer Josh Shinner was enlisted to capture two sweet moments between Prince William and his children for a Father's Day tribute shared on social media on June 15.
The first showed the Prince of Wales and his three children with their arms around each other and beaming together.
Kensington Palace's Father's Day post used images taken by a professional photographer and not Kate.

The second photograph, in black and white, showed a more playful moment, with the three children and William hugging as they lay laughing on the grass.
Using a professional photographer for such photos was a notable departure from tradition.
Kate, a passionate photographer, had previously been known for her skill with a camera in taking intimate family portraits.
She was behind the lens of many similar family photos, capturing candid moments between the Waleses.
Kate was usually the source of such intimate family photos, a role she appears to be gradually returning to.

Pictures taken by the Princess were shared with some regularity, capturing various family milestones.
However, this number rapidly declined after the Mother’s Day photo editing drama that ensued in 2024.
To celebrate the occasion, an image of Kate and her children was taken by Prince William and published on social media. It was also the first image of the Princess of Wales to be released following her abdominal surgery earlier in the year.
The image was subsequently pulled from a number of photo agencies over fears it may have been doctored.

Kate later revealed she had changed the image as an “amateur photographer” who “occasionally experiments” with editing.
She also apologised for “any confusion” the post may have caused.
While her frequency decreased, the Princess did occasionally get behind the camera for some tributes.
When it came to celebrating the 10th birthday of Princess Charlotte in May, Kate was once again taking the picture.
The new birthday portrait was taken by her mother on an iPhone in Cumbria earlier this year and showed Charlotte beaming while sporting outdoors gear.
