The landmark new exhibition is to be unveiled as part of a large-scale show on Wednesday

Princess Kate has personally curated a new "mini-display" made up of an eclectic selection of objects for a new exhibition.

The Princess of Wales’s "Makers and Creators" exhibit will be shown at the V&A East Storehouse - and is set to be a celebration of how small individual pieces can form part of a meaningful whole.

Kate’s effort will be part of a larger show, which will feature over 100 similar mini displays that have been “hacked” into the sides and ends of storage racking.

The exhibition is set to be truly a "world-first in size, scale and ambition" with its diverse range of subjects, from fashion to theatre to streetwear and sculpture.

Kate, as patron of the V&A, carefully selected the objects from within the institution's vast collection of treasures with the aid of their curatorial team.

She met with with the V&A East Storehouse’s new locally recruited collections access team, to observe, discuss and select the pieces for the exhibition.

Her display aims to show how a collection of unique objects give us context to explore the myriad of social and cultural experiences in our lives.

From that, it seeks to celebrate the role we ourselves play "in the wider tapestry of life".

Among Kate’s collection is Oliver Messel’s costume for the Fairy of the Woodland Glades which was worn by Diana Vere in The Royal Ballet’s 1960 production of Sleeping Beauty.

She also highlighted a watercolour painting of a forest scene by author Beatrix Potter with a childhood photo album belonging to her father, Rupert Potter.

The exhibit features an intricate sculpture by Clemence Dane, a mid-20th century piece which depicts the artist's hands.

Historical works such as a 15th century earthenware tile from South Cadbury Church in Somerset, a Welsh hand quilted bedcover from the 1830s and an 1880s furnishing screen from A Morris and Co.

Kate also selected works from overseas for her mini display, including Anglo-American artist George Henry Boughton’s oil painting titled A Woman Holding a Mirror and a Rose.

The Princess’s appreciating eye even went as far as China, choosing a Qing Dynasty porcelain vase from around 1662-1722.

The new V&A exhibition will be "deliberately dense" and will invite guests to become “inspired and follow wherever their curiosity leads” as they self-guide themselves through the displays.

Kate’s stunning new curation follows her visit to the V&A as the institution's patron in June.

During her tour of the East Storehouse, Kate explored how the space removes conventional barriers between visitors and artefacts, allowing unprecedented proximity to creative works.

The visit highlighted V&A East Storehouse's mission to make the nation's creative heritage accessible to all.

Kate also met with the gallery's newly-appointed collections access team, who have been recruited from the local community.

During her visit, the Princess spent time examining remarkable objects from the collection, learning how interaction with these creative works can inspire visitors - no doubt helping inform her later efforts with the Makers and Creators display.
