Princess Kate has made a subtle nod to a patronage close to her heart.

The Princess of Wales, 42, donned an England Rugby team shirt during a trip to a farm shop alongside Prince William.

This may have been a subtle hint she will soon be ready to return to work, as the England Rugby team is one of Kate's patronages.

Kate opted for black leggings, £128 Adidas trainers and an England Rugby men's hoodie for the shopping trip to the Windsor Farm Shop on Saturday.

The video was taken ahead of England's game against France in the Six Nations later that evening.

This was perhaps a suggestion that Kate was picking up food to watch the match with her husband and three children.

Kate has been the patron of the Rugby Football League and the Rugby Football Union since 2022.

The mother-of-three took over the role from Prince Harry, who gave up the patronage after stepping down as a working royal.

The Princess of Wales has unfortunately missed the whole Six Nations tournament due to recovery following her abdominal surgery.

Kate grew up watching rugby with her parents and siblings, and is known for her love of sports.

For example, the Princess of Wales is also royal patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and is a frequent visitor to the Wimbledon Championships.

Her sister Pippa said in 2014: "Rugby was a big thing for our family, we'd plan our weekends around the big matches."

When Kate's patronage was announced, a source said: "[William and Kate] are famously competitive with each other and this will be no different – probably even more so now that they have an invested interest in the outcome of the game."

Prince William, 41, is the patron of the Welsh Rugby team, while Princess Anne, 73, is the patron of the Scottish team.

The footage of Princess Kate over the weekend was the first video of the royal since her abdominal surgery in January.

The mother-of-three is understood to be returning to royal duties after Easter, when her children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, begin attending school again.

Kate was hospitalised for 13 days inside The London Clinic.

This was also the same hospital where King Charles, 75, was receiving treatment for an enlarged prostate.

Since undergoing abdominal surgery, Kate has been recuperating at her home in Windsor, Adelaide Cottage.
