Whether Jeffrey Epstein actually fathered any children remains unverified

Newly released documents from the Jeffrey Epstein files reveal that Sarah Ferguson sent a message to the convicted paedophile congratulating him on the arrival of a "baby boy" following his release from prison in 2011.

The former Duchess of York indicated she had learned of the supposed birth from "The Duke" – an apparent reference to her former husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

The correspondence forms part of approximately three million files made public by the US Department of Justice on Friday.

In her message, sent via the BlackBerry Messenger service fifteen years ago according to the Telegraph, Ferguson wrote: "Don't know if you are still on this BBM but heard from The Duke that you have had a baby boy.

"Even though you never kept in touch, I am still here with love, friendship and congratulations on your baby boy. Sarah xx."

Whether Epstein actually fathered any children remains unverified, despite allegations that he had sexual relations with hundreds of women throughout his life.

The document release, which also included 180,000 images and 2,000 videos, contained further revelations about Ferguson's connections to the disgraced financier.

Records show she offered Epstein and his associates exclusive VIP tours of Buckingham Palace.

Perhaps most significantly, the files indicate that Andrew maintained contact with Epstein until at least 2017 – seven years beyond the point at which the royal has publicly stated he severed ties with the convicted sex offender.

According to newly released emails, Sarah Ferguson told Jeffrey Epstein to "marry me" just six months after the paedophile was released from jail.

Epstein had been released from Palm Beach County Jail in July 2009, having served 13 months for soliciting sex from young girls.

In the email, Ms Ferguson appeared to write: "You are a legend. I really don't have the words to describe, my love, gratitude for your generosity and kindness. Xx I am at your service. Just marry me."

The context behind the messages have not been explained in the files.

In a message sent on August 3, 2009, Fergie allegedly told Epstein she had "never been more touched by a friend's kindness".

Fergie appeared to write: "In just week, after your lunch, it seems the energy has lifted.

"I have never been more touched by a friends kindness than your compliment to me in front of my girls.

"Thank you Jeffrey for being the brother I have always wished for."

The former Duchess of York has previously made clear her regret of knowing Epstein, saying: "I abhor paedophilia and any sexual abuse of children and know that this was a gigantic error of judgment on my behalf… I will have nothing ever to do with Jeffrey Epstein ever again."
