James Middleton has said that his sister, the Princess of Wales, and Prince William made him proud to be British during their appearance at the State Banquet.

The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the State Banquet at Windsor Castle on Wednesday evening as part of Donald Trump’s three-day visit to the UK.


The royal couple shared a picture on social media of themselves smiling together at Frogmore House ahead of the State Banquet.

William and Kate captioned the picture: “Ready for the State Banquet” alongside a Union Jack and an American flag emoji.

James Middleton, Princess Kate’s younger brother, shared his support in the comments on the photo on Instagram.

He wrote: “Proud to be” next to a Union Jack emoji.

The banquet held in St George’s Hall was filled with over 160 guests and is one of the grandest events in the royal calendar.

Kate's wore a couture gown by British designer Phillipa Lepley which featured a full-length, hand-embroidered gold Chantilly lace evening coat over a silk crepe gown at the State Banquet.

Kate additionally wore earrings that belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The mother-of-three donned the Royal Family Order of King Charles III, the Royal Family Order of Elizabeth II, the Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, and the GCVO Star and Sash.

Meanwhile, Prince William wore White Tie with a Windsor tailcoat.

The Prince of Wales accessorised with the Most Noble Order of the Garter Sash with the Lesser George Miniature Medals.

The royal will team up with the First Lady of the United States this morning to carry out a final royal engagement of the visit.

Kate and Melania will meet Chief Scout Dwayne Fields at Frogmore Gardens, where they will be introduced to members of the Scouts’ Squirrels programme who are working towards their Go Wild nature badge.

A source said regarding the Princess of Wales's role: "The inclusion of Princess Kate in so many events during the State Visit is an honour."
