Several prominent Royal Family members were absent from the commemorations marking Queen Elizabeth II's centenary.

The Royal Family gathered on Tuesday to commemorate what would have been Queen Elizabeth II's 100th birthday, with King Charles and Queen Camilla at the centre of emotional tributes across London.

The monarch, 77, and the Queen, 78, attended multiple events throughout the day, and later stood for an official photograph with the nine other working members of the Royal Family.

These included the Prince and Princess of Wales, who returned from their Easter break to attend the afternoon reception at the Palace.

Prince Edward and the Duchess of Edinburgh were also present for the issue, with both paying subtle tribute to the late Queen through their clothing choices. Sophie wore a Gabriella Hearst dress featuring a riding-boot print, while Edward opted for a red tie adorned with horses.

Princess Anne, who began the day by officially opening the Queen Elizabeth II Garden at Regent's Park, stood for the official photograph.

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, 90, and Princess Alexandra, 89, also joined the celebration, completing the gathering of 11 working royals.

However, several extended Royal Family members were absent, including Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, 66, reflecting King Charles's long-held belief that only working members of the monarchy should be spotlighted.

X: THE ROYAL FAMILY

The King's brother has withdrawn from public life following his association with Jeffrey Epstein and the subsequent removal of his remaining titles. He has been residing at Marsh Farm on the Sandringham Estate.

His former wife, Sarah Ferguson, who shared a particularly close bond with the late Queen and inherited her beloved corgis, was also missing from proceedings.

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have been maintaining a low profile amid their parents' difficulties. However, GB News understands they retain the King's support and will be welcomed at future royal events.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who concluded an Australian tour at the weekend, were likewise absent. The couple have not attended major royal calendar events since relocating to America in 2020.

In addition, Princess Anne's two children, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, were not in attendance, nor was her husband, Sir Tim Laurence.

The Edinburghs' children, Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, 22, and James, Earl of Wessex, 18, did not attend due to university and school commitments.

The official Buckingham Palace photograph stood in stark contrast to previous family pictures, such as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's 60th wedding anniversary portrait in 2007.

This included all members of their extended family, not just the official working royals. Six of the late Queen's then-seven grandchildren sat down for the portrait, as well as Princess Margaret's two children and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

Louise was only four years old at the time, while the Duchess of Edinburgh was pregnant with James.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer joined King Charles and Queen Camilla at the British Museum for the morning viewing of the upcoming Queen Elizabeth II memorial, which included artworks and a short film about the design.

A rare public appearance was made by Lady Sarah Chatto, Princess Margaret's daughter, who joined the King and Queen at the British Museum to view the memorial designs.

Charles and Camilla later hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace, bringing together representatives from 45 organisations that held the late Queen's patronage during her record-breaking 70-year reign.
