Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi appeared “more alert and guarded than in previous years” during the Christmas Day walk, according to royal fan Karen Anvil, who was present on the Sandringham estate.

Speaking exclusively to GB News, Ms Anvil said it was Mr Mapelli Mozzi’s demeanour as he walked into St Mary Magdalene Church alongside his wife Princess Beatrice that first stood out to her.

The fan, who has attended Christmas celebrations at Sandringham for the past eight years, explained: “As they walked into the church, it was actually Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi who appeared more alert and guarded than I have seen him in previous years, which stood out immediately.

She added that there was a noticeable change later in the morning.

“When they later came out of the service, he appeared slightly calmer,” she said, adding that this was “probably because it was nearly over”.

Ms Anvil said that by contrast, Princess Beatrice appeared more self-contained as she exited the church, which she captured on camera.

She stated: “But Princess Beatrice showed visible signs of tension and self-containment, which I captured on film.”

Princess Beatrice surprised fans when she attended the Christmas Day service with her husband, marking one of the family’s most closely watched public appearances of the year.

It was previously suggested that Beatrice, 37, would jet abroad with her husband, Mr Mapelli Mozzi, to avoid all the drama surrounding her parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson.

However, this was proven to be untrue on Christmas Day when the couple stepped out in Norfolk with the Royal Family.

The former Duke and Duchess of York became embroiled in scandals primarily centred on their ties to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, leading to their unprecedented removal from public life in late 2025.

Ms Anvil's footage of Princess Beatrice walking beside Mr Mapelli Mozzi went viral on TikTok, after the fan told the royal she was “so glad she came”.

The mother-of-two appeared to respond: “Oh, that's very kind, thank you.”

Ms Anvil helped explain why Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie resonate with so many fans, despite the pair not being working royals.

“Because they feel real and relatable,” she said. “They have navigated very public challenges while maintaining warmth, dignity, and strong family relationships.

“People respond to authenticity, and over the years, I have consistently seen genuine affection towards them from the public.”

When asked if Ms Anvil would like to see the York sisters take on larger royal roles, she said: “That would be entirely a matter for them and for the Royal Family.

“From a public perspective, there is clear affection and respect.

“But any future role should prioritise their wellbeing rather than public expectation.”
