Eamonn Holmes has launched a scathing critique of museum collections, dismissing them as "old rubbish" whilst discussing the Princess Kate's recent visit to the V&A East Storehouse in Stratford, east London.
During a broadcast conversation about Kate's hands-on museum experience, Holmes expressed his unfiltered opinion on cultural institutions.
He said: "Museums are amazing. There are places full of just old rubbish.
"If I opened up my attic and said there's my George Best shirt there. There's all sorts of things that you could have looking around.

"It basically is a lot of old rubbish that they've got no room for in the museum, and this is the stuff that they have in their warehouses. They're saying, look, you think you haven't got enough junk?
"Here's more junk that you can go and have a look at."

Co-host Ellie Costello disagreed and said: "I'd argue it's not junk, it's treasure. There's a Picasso in there."
Eamonn said: "One man's junk is another man's treasure. I suppose that's the difference. "
Ellie said: "That would have been a dream trip for her. Because she just loves photography, doesn't she?
"She studied history of art so she wouldn't see it as junk at all. She will have had the best time."

The Princess of Wales visited the V&A East Storehouse in London's Stratford yesterday, where she engaged with the museum's unique "order an object" system.
This innovative approach allows paintings, furniture, books and sculptures to be requested by visitors, with a dedicated room set aside for viewing alongside staff.
Kate marvelled at what she described as the "eclectic" collection during her visit.
She examined exhibits in a hands-on manner, touching and ordering items just as members of the public would experience them.

The visit marked her first public royal engagement since returning from the half-term break with her three children.
V&A director Tristram Hunt praised the Princess's confident navigation of the visit, telling People magazine: "She is a pro! She dealt with that!"
