The gathering recognises local government as a fundamental component of British democracy, with these workers providing essential services that directly affect citizens' everyday lives across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

On Wednesday, King Charles, Queen Camilla and the Duchess of Edinburgh attended the premiere of the monarch's documentary Finding Harmony: A King's Vision.

The screening was held at Windsor Castle in Berkshire, with several stars joining the royals for the production.

Kate Winslet, who narrates the documentary, posed for the camera, as did Beneditch Cumberbatch alongside his wife Sophie Hunter.

A spokesman for the King said the film was "not a conventional royal documentary".

"There are no golden carriages here; no glittering crowns or crimson robes.

"Instead, this is a deeply personal exploration of ideas that have shaped His Majesty's life and work: the interconnectedness of all things, the wisdom of traditional knowledge, and the belief that we can build a future that works in partnership with nature rather than against it," the spokesman said.
