The olive branch to King Charles appears to be a U-turn from the Sussexes as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have barely spoken to senior members of the Royal Family in 2023.

Despite the recent communication between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the King, the couple are expected to spend Christmas in California.

Harry and Meghan have spent the last three festive periods away from the UK.

However, Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2, will be introduced to British traditions this Christmas, according to a royal expert.

Katie Nicholl told GBNews.com that Harry will try to give his children as close to a British Christmas as possible despite the fact the family will be celebrating in the US.

She added that the Duke of Sussex will be unable to replicate the traditional Royal Family Christmas experience for his children.

Nicholl said: "I am sure there are moments when Harry must feel homesick.

"California is a world away from Britain and a world away from a British Christmas.

"I suspect they will have many of the British traditions that Harry is used to, we have seen him dressing the tree with Archie.

"They will have as close to a British Christmas in California as they can.

"Of course, what they won't have is the traditional royal Christmas experience at Sandringham."
